EVA NEYMANN

Director and scriptwriter

born in Zaporozhje/Ukraine, lives in the Ukraine and Germany; studied law at the Philipps Universität in Marburg, graduated as a director at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (2007) with the documentary film Puti Gospodni (God’s Ways), which was awarded the German talent prize «First Steps» in 2007. Till today she has made three feature films, three documentaries and four shorts. All of them participated and were awarded at numerous international film festivals. She made her feature debut with the film At the River based on the script written in cooperation with Friedrich Gorenstein, novelist and screenwriter, author of a.o. ‘Solaris’by A. Tarkovsky. At the River had its international premiere at IFFR Rotterdam 2007, was shown in the main competition of Moscow and London festivals among others. Her second feature film, House with the Turret (2012) received numerous awards, a.o. Karlovy Vary East of the West Award, Tallinn Back Nights Grand Prix, Istanbul Audience Award. The film was screened at festivals in Shanghai, London, and many others. Her film Song of Songs (2015) premiered at the Karlovy Vary’s official competition, was nominated for the The Eurimage Audentia Award 2016 and European Film Academy Award in 2016. It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the Toronto Film Festival, and won among others the Best Film Award and Best Ukrainian Film Award at the Odessa Festival and the FIPRESCI award in Freibourg, Switzerland.
