Docudays UA is proud to offer a series of free workshops from famous lecturers! Workshops DOCU/CLASS are carried out every day on March, 24-27 in the small hall of Kinopanorama cinema.

March 24, Saturday

12:00 Workshop of Marina Razbezhkina. «Following the reality»

Well-known Russian director, scriptwriter and lecturer Marina Razbezhkina leads the first workshop of our program. Marina Razbezhkina is a prize-winner of many film festivals. She brought up a new wave of modern Russian directors. She was a head of The School of Documentary in Moskow till 2011. Marina Razbezhkina has been organizing a competition of non-fiction films «Following the reality» annualy since 2009. Winners get a right on studying at her school for free. 

 

March 25, Sunday

12:00 Workshop of Marshall Curry

Marshall Curry is a famous American director, two-times nominated for Academy Award. All three his full-length films, prize-winners of many world film festivals (two of them «Racing Dreams» and «If a Tree Falls» in the program of Docudays UA special screenings), are considered to be extraordinary, vastly entertaining and extremely important, because each time they hit the social problem spot. Marshall Curry has traveled to Israel, Jordan, and Kosovo to lead classes and discussions about documentary filmmaking. This year he shares his experience with the audience of Docudays UA.

 

 

March 26, Monday

12:00 Workshop by Givi Odishariya (Georgia)

One has a chance to meet Givi Odishariya, a famous scriptwriter and director from Georgia. He is a master of psychological drama with a long-term experience of working in cinematography. In the competition program of the festival audience will watch a film of Audrius Stonis (Lithuania) «Ramin» that was made on his script. In the workshop Givi Odishariya will speak about complicated and not typical stage of filmmaking for documentary – writing and producing of scenerio.

 

 

 

March 27, Tuesday

12:00 Workshop of Emily James

In the end of DOCU/CLASSES course personal achievements in the filmmaking industry will be presented by the American director and producer Emily James. In her films, that were made in cooperation with British television, Emily combines her interests in history, science and politics. Her film language is characterized by light irony, even when raising complicated questions, as we can see in her film «Just do it»: the story of social activists looks very cheerful despite the seriousness and danger of their operations.
